Kitchener.

It HAD to be better than London.

It had to.

Well, after the craziness of getting to London, we left plenty of time to get to Kitchener. It helped that Catherine and I had been there for Skate Canada back in 96. We didn't even get lost, had dinner at a great restaurant and left in plenty of time to get to the arena.

We arrived about half an hour before the show was due to begin and saw all these people milling about outside and very little traffic. We were all getting nervous and as we got up to the doors we heard that the show had been cancelled due to bad ice. We were completely stunned. We wandered about for a bit because I was supposed to meet a friend from Hamilton. We got inside and ran into her. It was steamy hot inside the lobby and we began to understand the problems. There was a crush of people under the stairs going up into the arena and we found out that some of the skaters had come out to sign autographs and Jayson was there. After standing in the heat and crowd for a while, I managed to make contact with Jayson. I gave him a copy of the page and he was very sweet and appreciative.

So, there was no show (we heard that the ice was so thin that some skaters had crashed through to the cement.) but the evening was not a total wash-out.
