Canadian Nationals
January 26 - 31, 1999
Ottawa, ONT
Nationals is a very large event with practices and competitions going on at three
different rinks almost simultaneously for a week. Needless to say, I didn't manage
to go to everything. These are my notes and impressions of what I did see. I do have
complete competition notes but they are rather extensive so I will add them by request
only.
Photo links slowly being added!
The only novice event I saw was the Men's Short program and I missed the final
group of skaters.
- Eric Lyons - Riverdance, death drop, double axel, triple sal (step out and
possible two foot)-double toe, double loop, very low sit spin in combo
spin, very good change sit, nice edge quality and flow
- Jordan Tucker - Sailors Dance from Red Poppy, double axel, hard fall on
triple toe, poor change sit, double loop, not much fly to flying camel
- Mark Leslie - I described his music in my notes as 'That PBS music',
which I think refers to some music from one of the promotional clips that
could be from Dances with Wolves, nice height on double axel, triple sal
- double toe (step out), single loop, nice change sit, good speed in combo
spin
- Matt Bueno - Santana, fall on triple sal, held on to 2 axel, good speed in
combo spin, very nice feet in footwork, double loop, change sit
- Palmer Davidson - Take 5, double axel (slight step out), change sit, fall
on triple toe, 2 loop, flying camel to sit, very shaky combo spin
